East Europe Foundation and Telenor Group Create Community Centers for Elderly Citizens
East Europe Foundation and telecommunication company Telenor Group in Ukraine provided 296,497 UAH to organizations in Poltava and Sumy oblasts to establish three community centers for elderly citizens in Pyryatyn, Nedrygayliv and Lypova Dolyna. Centers will become venues for seniors' pastime activities, where they can gather to sing, dance, perform, and spend time with each other during afternoon tea, as well as gain new skills like photography or personal computer usage. Centers will also provide social services and medical advice. Projects are funded within the "Community Centers for Elderly Citizens" initiative supported by the telecommunication company Telenor Group and the US Agency for International Development (USAID). With this funding, public organizations will launch centers to be based at existing state-supported district centers of social services. After the renovation and equipping of premises, these organizations will work with Centers for Social Services to organize meaningful and comfortable pastime activities for visitors.
